THE LITTLE BLACK JACKET: CHANEL'S CLASSIC REVISITED

Through a series of black and white portraits, Karl Lagerfeld has collaborated with Carine Roitfeld to pay homage to one of the fashion house's most iconic pieces: the little black jacket.

For this project, the creative duo enlisted more than a hundred notable personalities. Actors, designers, singers, rock stars... Alexander Wang, Anna Wintour, Haider Ackermann, Kanye West, Sarah Jessica Parker, Georgia May Jagger, Alice Dellal, and more, all of whom are wearing little black jacket in their own unique way, reflecting the versatility of Chanel's vision.

The series of portraits are currently on display in an exhibition in Tokyo until April 15 and will be published in a lavish coffee-table book entitled The Little Black Jacket: Chanel's classic revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld later this year.

CHANEL S/S 2012

Beneath the majestic glass domes of the Grand Palais, Karl Lagerfeld transported us into an all-white underwater kingdom as he revealed his flawless S/S 2012 RTW collection.

Models adorned in luminous pearls, sea-soaked pastels and iridescent fabrics emerged from a giant sea anemone onto a catwalk transformed into an impeccable white seabed garnished with shells, coral reef, silhouettes of seahorses, bubbles and twirling seaweed. 

"I was inspired by the movement of seaweed, its lightness, and by certain fish that have very modern shapes, like sting rays," says Lagerfeld.

But King Karl's aquatic underworld was not complete without the gorgeous flame-haired Florence Welch, resembling a modern day Ariel, serenading the crowd from a giant white clam-shell.

What I really love about this uber chic collection is the way in which Lagerfeld has created haute couture designs that are both practical and wearable.


Evidently, no one puts on a show quite like Karl Lagerfeld.

CHANEL S/S 2012 PREVIEW: UNDER THE SEA

In less than 3 hours, Monsieur Lagerfeld will unveil his highly anticipated S/S 2012 collection at the Grand Palais, where he promises to evoke the "magical world of the ocean floor and airy clothes made from specially developed fabrics that capture the phosphorescence of plankton under moonlight" (via Vogue).

Creative genius Lagerfeld never ceases to blow our minds with his ever-evolving creativity, and I'm certain today will be no exception!

Each nail colour is reminiscent of the various styles and shades of one of the world's most popular wardrobe staples.
