TOPSHOP AU: THE LONDON LOOK

IT'S OFFICIAL! British retail giant Topshop has landed on Australian shores.

Australia welcomed it's first Topshop flagship store on Chapel Street in Melbourne's fashionable South Yarra on December 8.

Coincidentally, I had planned a girls weekend to Melbourne a week after the opening (perfect timing). So of course, the first thing we did when we arrived in Melbourne was head straight to Chapel Street to suss out the much anticipated high street chain store.

Greeted by an abundance of dazzling, sequin-embellished pieces and loud music, it was no surprise that our arms were rapidly weighed down with hangers accommodating glitter-emblazoned mini dresses, chunky knits, billowing maxi skirts and eclectic tees.

Things that pleasantly surprised me about Topshop Melbourne:

  1. The stock accurately reflects what's in-store in the UK and online. Although this may bother some people due to seasonal differences, it means we don't have to deal with a disappointing southern hemisphere collection.
  2. The prices are very similar. This was the biggest surprise as the majority of the time when an international brand comes to Australia, they inflate the prices like crazy.

Jacket/Acne, Singlet/Bassike, Skirt/Arnsdorf

I came away with a navy blue and white nautical striped sweater, a pair of black leggings, a black shift dress and a fabulous metallic silver tee (pictured above).

With the Sydney store only forecasted to open in August 2012, I'll undeniably be planning a return trip to Melbourne in the next month or two.

SILENCE BROKEN

Happy holidays everyone!

Apologies for my major blog-neglect.

Here I was thinking that summer break would mean I'd have more time to dedicate to my blog. Wrong.

Who knew that full-time work and the festive season would leave me with so little free time on my hands?

I promise to make up for the silence with an abundance of posts.

Stay tuned!

FASHION FOR KIEHL'S

Image via bellasugar

American beauty brand Kiehl's has teamed up with three of Australia's hottest designers to raise money for charity.

Ksubi, Sass & Bide and Zimmermann, have each designed their own bottle label emblazoneed in prints and colours reflective of their latest collections, for the iconic Kiehl's Creme de Corps body lotion.

A percentage of the sales go towards supporting Australian children's charities including Barnados (Sass & Bide), The Starlight Children's Foundation (Zimmermann) and War Child Australia (Ksubi).

Just in time for the holiday season, these limited-edition body lotions are undeniably a perfect gift idea.

Get yours online or from any Kiehl’s store, department store or any of the Australian brands free-standing boutiques.

MELISSA x GARETH PUGH

British bad boy designer Gareth Pugh has teamed up with Brazilian footwear label Melissa to create a unique collection of plastic shoes.

The collaboration features two different styles of "armour for the feet"- The 'Aileron', an avant-garde gladiator sandal that comes in monochrome variations; and the 'Ultra', a ballet flat with a slight peep-toe adorned in Pugh's iconic geometric print.

I am obsessing over the white/silver and black/silver 'Aileron' sandals. A fabulous statement piece, yet, the monochrome palette makes them a versatile addition to any summer wardrobe.

BEATING THE HUMIDITY

IT'S OFFICIAL! Exams are over and freedom is finally here. I cannot even begin to explain how liberating it felt to walk out of the exam room this morning knowing that my (almost) 4 month summer break had finally arrived.

On another note, the weather in Sydney at the moment is sooo revoltingly humid (almost to the point where I've considered packing my bags and moving to the Arctic Circle).

To avoid looking as though I'm channeling the Grace Coddington frizz, I never leave home without my super-sized bottle of Moroccanoil- I actually owe my life to the genius who created this magical product.

WE ARE HANDSOME S/S 2011-12

Introducing We Are Handsome smoking hot summer 2012 collection titled 'The Vintage'...

The collection features swimwear, mini dresses and leggings emblazoned with vibrant and unique digital prints that evoke nostalgic memories of "European summer vacations, adventures in the forest, the excitement of far away lands and creatures of wonder".

The Sydney label created by designers Jeremy Somers and Indra Chagoury was launched in summer 2009 with the desire to create one-of-a-kind pieces splashed with eye-catching prints guaranteed to turn heads.

For some of us, the prospect of swimwear shopping can be seen as a daunting and unrewarding experience. In reality, it more often than not ends with leaving the store empty-handed with a resolution to do more exercise.

With enough cuts and styles to please just about everyone, the effortless and super flattering swimwear silhouettes carry the striking prints beautifully.

Get ready to start daydreaming about all the hot summer vacations you'd love to have in these sizzling little number...

MIDWEEK INSPIRATION

I can't believe it's November already! The year has flown by way too fast...

Anyway I've been neglecting my blog a little bit lately due to exam week which has crept up on me so quickly- hence, I've been attempting to do study (which is so difficult when you're already in holiday mode and the weather is so beautiful- I just want to sit outside and soak up the sun all day).

I've picked a few inspiring looks for a quick burst of midweek inspiration. The highlights: blouses, bright hues, pleated skirts, prints and palazzo pants.

THIS JUST IN: GOLD SEQUIN CULOTTES

When I strolled into Capital L yesterday morning I was (once again) drawn like a magpie to the abundance of sequins from Tighttigers and Cameo adorning the racks. In a society that adheres to the "less is more" mantra, it has undoubtedly become a struggle to find shorts that are a reasonable length (particularly embellished ones).

I was SO thrilled when I stumbled across these amazing sequined culottes from Cameo. Such a statement piece and they are the perfect length and cut.

TGIF: HAUTE HALLOWEEKEND

In honor of Halloween weekend, I've decided to share some snaps from Tim Burton's shoot for Harper's Bazaar (October 2009), last week's Vampire Ball hosted by Carine Roitfeld and some halloween-inspired haute couture (those ensembles that make you question "who would dare to wear such things off the runway?")

GET INSPIRED...

I am SO infatuated with those nails. Very vampire-esque!!
